Okay. I had the same problem. I ran canola-cleanup, disabled the appropriate repository, installed beta9, and I have the same problem. I'm running the latest (as of 10-16-2008) Diablo release on an N810.

When will beta11 be released? :-)

I fixed it like this:

I went into my repositories and first tried disabling just the extras-development repository, then uninstalled and re-installed canola. I still had the same issue.

I went back into my repositories, and disabled all my repositories (I have a lot) except for the Maemo Extras which contains Canola 9. I uninstalled and re-installed and Voila`!
Now it works!
THanks for your suggestions!

Can you try starting Canola on terminal? go to utilities - xterm
and type :

canola -vvv this will generate an output of the error crashing canola.

It seems that Cleaner is not removing all dependencies and one still kills canola. and there's a catch : if you installed from extras, you may have a quite newer version of some libs installed, then canola9 tries to use it and crashes...

please place the error here, and it will help us improve the cleaner.

Thanks in advance

Marcelo
