Ah, thanks, I just saw it ask for a connection and figured it was going to try and turn on gps on its own.

Yeah same thing happen to me at 1st . But it works great for maps. The Only program that i use all the time is GPXVIEW and that is not working with minigpsd . I seen there are some setings for it using Configuratio editor . But there is not anything about gps . I will see if i can drop an email to who ever made gpxview to see if there is a way to fix it .

As for other GPS software it's the same thing you have to load minigpsd then load your map or other gps program and alow the default gps to turn on .

What does 'enable internal N810 GPS' do? Is this to enable the GPS chipset or the gpsd? This is vague. And how do I make it use the on-board GPS chipset?

Seems like I can only use minigpsd when I run it as root from terminal.

If you install it from the deb it should work as user instead of root.

If you run it as root, it will create files in /tmp as root which it can't access as user so will not run until they are removed or after a reboot.

Remove /tmp/gpsd.log and /tmp/minigpsd.pid if they exist (as root) and it should run as user. If not, try "strace minigpsd" as user and past the last dozen or so lines.

Enable Internal n810 tells minigpsd whether it should use the internal n810 GPS - it can do so in addition to a bluetooth GPS and do a fail-over, but on an n800, it isn't there (I'm working on testing for it), and if you only want to use an external Bluetooth GPS exclusively, and because it might save a little power, I have the option to keep it off.

Normally it doesn't hurt anything to leave it on always.

Hmm, wouldn't using /var/tmp be better as it can be accessed by both root + user and is cleaned on reboot?

I've tweaked the repository - apparently I need to lowercase everything and it thinks user/navigation is different form user/Navigation. I'll have updates later this weekend, but for now it might install TZGPS-* and tell you it is still available for installation with tzgps-* installed

/tmp is also cleaned on reboot. And is accessible by both, but if root creates the file, then user can't access (or delete) it.

OK, at least the PID file was owned by root. I rebooted and embrace the user. It ran, but Navicore wants me to unable the stock GPSd. I speak to an unknown GPS provider, and I need an IMEI. How can I switch to Nokia's?

Thing is, I have no idea what is on and what is off. The panel is not informative. It doesn't say if minigpsd is running, or if gpsd is running (see my previous post on this), or if the internal N810 GPS is enabled. While the intention of this feature is good, the way the user interacts with it isn't. I don't dare to touch the other settings either!
