my wifi connection used to work at home after the OS 08 update... it doesnt work at all...

please any help will be appreciate it

Maybe your wifi settings are lost.
Click on the connection icon and then you should see your Wifi hotspot in the list of connections. When that is not the case, test it with a computer.
Moreover when you have MAC address filtering on the router and the MAC address of the N810 is not added to your router's access control list, it will not connect.
When it does show up in the connections list on your tablet, connect to it and fill in the proper WEP / WPA key.

it just doesnt work overall... I went around the neighborhood and tested all around the open wifi connections it gives me "network error" ~ at home it is the same problem... it used to work...

Sometimes at home it states... "Internet connection failed. Unable to retrieve IP address from server. Try again"

I went to connection settings...
put the network name, uncheck network is hidden, network mode infrastructure, security method wpa pre-shared key, hit next...

then enter the pre-shared key, hit next...

go to advanced
use proxy disabled, ip address tab... auto retrieve IP address, and auto retrieve DNS disabled... I entered the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, primary dns, secondary dns

it seems to connect but doesnt load anything in the browser, cant check email, cant stream radio etc...

ping it in the X terminal

went to connection manager pulled IP address details... it has the wrong subnet mask 255.0.0.0 it should be 255.255.252.0

on the router end I am WPA personal... security/firewall settings filter multicast is enabled, filter NAT direction enabled, Filter IDENT(Port 113) enabled, Block Anonymous Internet Requests disabled... all VPN is enabled

wireless MAC filter disabled....

when I use bluetooth connection through phone it works like a charm

please any help will be appreciate it

I found these links and access /etc/resolv.conf and made sure the file only includes
nameserver 127.0.0.1

still no luck... please I need to be able to access wifi... I was able to before the update... any help will be greatly appreciate it... thank you

It seems that everything is OK.
Do the following tests:

Connect a computer to the same Wifi hotspot. Does it work ?
if yes, fill in same Wifi connection parameters in on the N810 with 'advanced' (but with different internal IP address of course !).

When it does connect, open a command shell (xterm / putty from a pc) and try pinging the IP address of your router.


Open an internet site on your browser.

When this does not work, try another router and when that fails as well, there can be a hardware problem with the tablet.

nice ollie - 360 up in the air put your hands up on the air...

I tested two laptops... then went to advanced on 810... first it didnt work... then I tried enabling the mac filter on the router (I never enabled before for so many reasons)

I picked "Permit only PCs listed to access the wireless network" on linksys WRT54G
assigned an internal IP... check it out... couldnt believe it... sure it makes sense... it worked flawlessly...

one question though... is there a bug on the latest OS 08...

I mean now when I go to my friends house, they just need to be enable the mac filter? And I have to assign IPs... it is a bit pain in the a55

does anyone know why it worked before the OS 08 update, and not after the update without setting the IPs? I am just curious
