Hi!

I have run into a rather severe problem: today my tablet does not boot at all. (Related to problems with sudoers file yesterday, see previous thread?). It starts booting, displaying Nokia. THen a few times shows a blank screen with a number of vertical lines. After some more tries it sinply shows blank screen and then shuts off again.

What to do? Is there a way to do any "hard reset" like on the Palm?

Is it possible that I have downloaded to many documents to the device, saved internally (not on memory card) so there is too little memory to boot (saved a number of pdfs yesterday in this way)? In that case, how to solve this?

Since I've been installing programs and changed the sudoers file, I'm a bit hesitant to contact Nokia the first thing I do.

It's not so easy as on a Palm, but you can do it: you must reflash your device.

Check Planet Maemo wiki in order to know how, or access the 770 page on nokia site and choose to update your tablet (download the OS2006 etc.)

Bye, Omar

Looks like a reflash is the way to go.

The N770 has seperate RAM and storage memory (unlike most WinCE type devices). Virtual memory is not required and disabled by default. In other words, "too many documents" will have no effect on the amount of memory (RAM) available to boot.

Thanks!!

Reflashing was easier than I thought, and it solved the issue. Great relief! Thanks!
