Usng Garnet VM I tried to move the file gvm.store (with all the Garnet VM data) of 16 MB to the external MMC (4 GB) and made from the file 'gvm.store' in the .gvm folder asymlink to the actual gvm.store file. This didn't work ?
When I restored the original 16MB file to the core memory everything worked. Why can't I use symlinks ?

The problem I reported was that I copied gvm.store from a putty session as root, so the file had the attributes 644 and group 'root'.

So I chmodded which did not take place without any error and chgrp issued an error message. But I am root , so why did it refuse ?

Very strange.

Here what I did:

if your mmc1 is FAT-formatted (which it usually is) you cannot set permissions on files (FAT doesn't support it) .
so every file is 644 and belongs to user:root (or the user that mounted your mmc)

With the first beta of GVM I made the .gvm directory a symlink to /media/mmc1/gvm, and as far as I remember it worked. I don't have that setup now with the second beta though.

I tried the same but when I start GVM and try to install an application it issues 'Cannot connect to GVM' after I opened the .pdb file.
