telnet-client_0.17-36_armel.deb

from

https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_...elease_id=2146

on my N810 (OS2008 Version 2.2..7.51-3)

Bat i always get the message:

"Installation of telnet-client not possible" (translated from GE)

Does anyone have an idea what am i doing wrong ?

Does anyone have an another Tlenet client application for N810 ?

The latest version provided by update is 4.2008.36-5. Perhaps the version you're running isn't ready for prime time or dosen't meet the dependancies called for by the telenet package. The package you want successfully installed in 4.2008.36-5.

That's 4.0 and too old. The page you've linked says
"OS2008 version 4.1 for N800 and N810".

Thanks for Help.
After system update i installed telnet without any problems.

To use Telnet You need X-Terminal, is there a standalone telnet client application ?

Depending on your application you might find "vncviewer" a better choice. Telenet is a command line terminal application that isn't use that much anymore. From a security standpoint it gives almost unlimited system access.

Why not go for ssh ?
Anyway there is a puuty port available somewhere in the forum that will give you telnet and ssh with a GUI.

Or you can use grcm to launch your CLI telnet client in an xterm automagically.
