When I go this summer, I'll be sure to check out WiMax in Odessa, Ukraine, on the N810WE. http://www-us.alternet.ua/map.html

Well, I don't like how the N810 is advertized as having a GPS while A) its works like crap B) there is (was) only one application which uses it C) to use the GPS for simple navigation you need to buy a(n overexpensive) subscription.

The software itself, while not the best of sliced bread, works, and its convenient how it has all the maps you need in an easy manner, and the routing works pretty well. You can conveniently get a deal for a lifetime subscription license if you search well enough. I got mine for, what was it, 20 GBP.

Ofcourse its not as good as the latest TomTom, but (_without_ subscription) those cost as much as a NIT + Wayfinder subscription alone. And, while these run Linux/ARM, the hardware specs are a lot less powerful, and its a proprietary platform.

Wikipedia has pretty good list of WiMax networks around the world.

I got the N800 (GPSless) plus the separate Navicore navigation kit, before the N810 came out. Works great, even if you put the GPS receiver in the glove box. For me, the cost was worth it.

Even standing outside, I have never gotten a GPS signal on my WiMax N810. Never ever ever.

Yes. That is why I use an external GPS. Sirf-III chip. Costs between 10 and 30 EUR/USD/GBP. Which is my point: if you hack around it a bit here and there the N8x0 is a decent navkit.
