[Translation of Tweakers.net: Nokia ontwikkelt nieuwe mobieltjes met magnetometer.]

Nokia is busy with at least 4 mobile phones with a magnetometer which can be used as compass. Besides that GPS comes also on mid-range mobile phones. This is proven by data provided to Tweakers.net.

The magnetometer is already in one announced phone: the N97. This sensor assists the GPS with location and is meant for location based services in which Nokia puts their cards in the future. It is probably for three devices in the same series. Besides a magnetometer GPS these devices also have a FM transmitter, WiFi, a TV-out and a touchpad just like the 5800 Xpressmusic also has. Also, there is another cheap mid-range device which will have a GPS and magnetometer. This device will not have UMTS or WiFi.

The data, which Tweakers.net received from an anonymous source at Nokia, also contains some specifications of other devices, of which the codename leaked earlier. The Gwen, a candybar with 5 MP camera, gets a xenon flash instead of a LED flash. Besides that the device will contain TV-out and a FM-radio; no WiFi. It is unknown when the devices of which the specifications are leaked will be introduced.

Update: As some of you have asserted Nokia already released a device with magnetometer on the market, the 6210 Navigator.

[Please note the distinction between mobile devices and mobile phones is not entirely clear in the source. They probably refer to mobile phones.]
