Hello, this is my first post on these forums as I have just recently received a N810 as a Christmas present.

I'm trying to install Canola2 on my Nokia N810 and I keep receiving the following error message :

I don't know how to resolve this. For the record I have the Nokia N810 (non wimax one), the version of Canola2 I'm trying to install is : 2.0.0~beta9-maemo3, my operating system is : OS2008 ver 1.2007.42-19.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hmmm ... looks wierd but seems it's in bora repo.

    add this to your catalogue:

    http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ bora free non-free

alternatively you can use the index to manually install dependencies.

    http://repository.maemo.org/extras/d...armel/Packages

and here is an example how to manually download a the py-terra deb (in case you need to):

    http://repository.maemo.org/extras/p...aemo.1_all.deb

i had the same problem. you need to enable red pill mode. search for red pill mode and follow the instructions. after installation go back to blue pill mode

How do manually install the dependencies? I click on the above link and it's lines of code.

I get an error message saying

I even tried the red pill/blue pill mode switching that sachin007 suggested and then tried to install Canola2 again, but I got the exact same error message as in my first post on this thread.

See what I mean when I say I'm having serious install issues with this? Thanks for both your help though. I'm at a loss.

I also had trouble installing Canola 2 on my N800.
Got the same missing packages error message.

Disabled the Maemo Extras Catalogue in the Applications Manager.
Rebooted, went back in, and renabled the Maemo Extras Catalogue.
Did a list update and was then able to install Canola 2.

Don't ask. Don't get it either.
    My problem now?
Canola 2 won't see the music tracks (mp3s) on my SDHC cards.
I can browse to them via Canola, but it just won't detect the mp3s, despite my doing all the standard configuration settings correctly.
    I do like Canola.

    Hope this helps.

I'm going to check the updates again.

Thanks for the info Thunderstorm. Tried it like you said but the same error message appears.

    BUT..............

I finally did get it to install. I was googling around to find more repositories for the Nokia N810 (since I couldn't get the link that iancumihai provided to work).

I came to this thread on this very forum :
    http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=14402

    I downloaded the 7th catalog named :

Hope this helps anyone else having a problem with the installation.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and help.

We are supposed to remove beta10 and install beta9 maemo3. Refer to the following sticky link

"It was a tough decision to draw back all the features we have implemented, and start again, but the beta10 showed a lot of really serious issues that the people involved were not able to solve in a good way that we used to have on Canola Team."

I'm too being having the issues with the missing packages when I tried to upgrade form maemo1 to maemo3. I've tried eveything to get them installed with no luck and have given up for now.

One of the Canola2 devs suggested (in a thread on this very forum) to try updating/flashing the firmware. Well I tried it and it worked! I was able to install beta9 no error messages or anything.

I was thinking i just need to udpate to diablo instead of sticking with chinook to install it. Thanks for the info.

hey! new n810 owner. canola2 is one of the first apps i've been trying to install, (was getting the same missing packages as other folk)

i just tried adding the maemo extras-devel package, and it installed fine, but shows up in the application manager as beta 10.

is this bad? should i not use this version?

    thanks!
