You already have an RSS applet. I was at work today and thought it would be cool if number one, the news networks had a crawler application, and number two, someone would make one for the tablet.

I am annoyed so much with the crawler on the TV because like Lewis Black, I want to watch tv to watch tv not to read a stupid crawler at the bottom of the screen.

But If there was some way to get a ticker tape crawler that updates itself, so that at a glance, I can bring up to 3, on the N810, I think that would be cool.

You would need a source, for one, and I dont think the news networks have anything like that. Maybe a RSS feed with the current crawler text.

If this ever became a reality - I would like to have several crawlers one on top of eachother. Like MSNBC, CNN, Fox News (just to see what the red meat crowd is up to heh heh)

What do we think about this? I think it would be great - similar to the RSS applet. Or maybe I should just stick with the RSS applet. For news top stories headlines.

OMG a crawler would make an awesome desktop applet. I want it on my GNOME panel now, too.
Why hasn't anyone thought of this?! Chris, you're a genius! :O

(Although I guess one could just resize the RSS reader applet to just show a single line).

Well it could be linked in to the screen timeout (and presumably expose events) so that it stops crawling when you can't see it.

Would be worth adding this as a suggestion to the RSS reader task wiki page.
