i have found this out the hard way. Turn off RSS readers auto update feature before using skype. If RSS attempts to auto update (i have mine set to update every 30 mins) while you are on a skype call there is a good chance your call will get dropped.
Also i have found that it is advisable to not run any applications other then skype when placing a call. I even turn off some applets.
It would be nice if the skype had some way of blocking other data transmissions from happening when it is in use.
