And I'm curious about "MOOD" too... Maybe it changes the tint colour of the photo depending on the photographer's or subject's mood?

It might mean "candle-lit" (and "in the mood")

It is going to be 2009 and we still have 800x480 (first came in 2006)
    128mb(same in n800 2007)
    And 5mpx... nokia 95 released in 2007.

    What the **ck?

    I am sorely disappointed!
I take lots of digital photos and 5mpx is PLENTY! (Even 3 is enough for most everything). At that capacity, the optics and sensor quality plays a bigger role. It's about making each pixel look good rather than the number of pixels. Such as you don't want dark blurry photos full of noise, even with 100 mega-pixels. Optical zoom is also a whole lot better than digital zoom, but I don't expect this on Nokia devices anytime soon.

800x480 is also plenty for the screen. If some magic 3" screen had 2560 x 1600, you can't read the text without a microscope. Or, if you increase the font size to a readable size, it won't look much better than 800x480.

    my 2 cents worth..

There is a driver in the pre-alpha SDK, which is for zoom/image stabilisation hw (either or).

Awesome. I didn't expect any chance of optical zoom in 2009/2010.

I somehow doubt that we'll see optical zooms in an tablet, though...the last (and only thus far) time Nokia used it was with the N93(i), and it wasn't really worth the effort imho. Just added a lot of bulk & degraded image quality compared to the non-OZ N73 they offered at the same time.

The driver (+hw) could probably also move a shutter to cover the camera lens, or it might just have been an idea which they won't implement.

Here's a pointer to the device (Analogue Devices AD5820) and datasheet:

My belief is that there is image stabilization via the accelerometer. I doubt we'd see optical zoom because of the bulk associated with the moving lenses. And as stated previously, 5MP is plenty. In fact they need to improve the pictures on their current 5MP cams to reduce the noise that's currently in the photos.

well said. don't be fooled by marketing drivel.

I compared images from my six year old Olympus 3040Z (3.3Mpix) with my 1.5 year old Canon IS710is (8Mpix). The former had a better lens, and in good light the Oly results are better!

Mobile phones lenses are good for maybe 2M images at best.

    Ask NASA what works!

As far as MP goes the higher it is the more you can see the quality of the lens.
It's also important to have good image processing to save a decent image, (assuming the lens isn't complete rubbish)

would that fit on the RX-51? ;-)
