IMHO the ambient sensor was the most useless feature of the N810 hardware. I fully have to agree with lcuk, except for I disabled the sensor on my N810 via software.

I believe in this context it refers to Enhanced Control Interface (it's not a particular device), a way to discern/control what is attached to the A/V jack. See http://www.faqs.org/patents/app/20080318629 for details.

Yes, the whole phonet stack is interesting concept, looks like it allows equivalent (relatively low level) access to GSM/whatever phone module over serial (internal SSI) bus, usb or bluetooth so the phone part is either integrated or remotely connected and the tablet can serve as main interface to operate it (i.e. much more than just headset or contact exchange over bluetooth?). I wonder which existing (Nokia only?) phones support such access. I also wonder how the GPRS over phonet driver differs from GPRS over bluetooth DUN profile.

EDIT: after some investigation it looks like it is not something particularly new, gnokii already talks over it with nokia phones and Nokia currently doesn't plan to contribute more than just existing GPRS driver and internal SSI communication.

I respectfully disagree, the light sensor allowed me to get rid of the brightness adjustment in my status bar because I never need to use it anymore. The sensor placement isn't optimal as I do sometimes cover it inadvertently but I really do appreciate the sensor.

It probably just means that it is a headset+remote -- I would hope that it is more of an advanced remote (i.e. with led readout) than a simple Nokia-style block or an Apple squeeze-twice remote.

BUT -- this is really REALLY needed if you're going to have a general computing device (with system volumes and multiple apps) that also needs to be an multimedia device as well. I'm really tired of having two volume levels to manage on the device when playing media, and if the tablet can separate them, and put the MM volume controls on the remote, then this will make it *far* more attractive as a PMP.
