I taught it is on demad sort of if set to wlan and the discoverying time it will chose the last used wlan which is the default. At least for me when i need to use wlan it connects directly except when i want to chose an alternative.

click on the wireless icon in the status bar, go to connectivity settings, and make sure 'connect automatically' is set to WLAN. That should do the trick.
My N810 is set to disconnect from WLAN after 1 hour idle time.
When I access the internet then it gives me the list of WLANs and I have to pick.
I would like it to connect automatically on demand without bothering me with picking from the list.
