Hi Everyone,

I've been looking but can't seem to find a Java VM for the 810/OS2008. Is one available? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Uh, yes and no. Depends on what you're trying to do.
See this article.
Or better yet, try Easy Debian.

Hi,

thanks for the reply - I will read the article. I wanted to be able to view executing java applets in my browser, as I do on my PCs. On my website for example, I have a java app that acts as a sort of terminal window through which NWS forecast scroll. That is what the app does, it scrolls the text for you to read. This function doesn't work at all (nothing but whitespace on the page when viewed in the browser).

thanks,

Java on the n8x0 is spotty. Your best bet would be Easy Debian. I haven't tried either myself, but I think Android or NitDroid will finally bring Java out of the closet.

Thanks - I guess I'll just have to wait.

One niggling question - I've looked around but can't seem to find how to do it - is it possible to get teh 810 to display time in military (24 hour) format?

I appreciate your replies very much; thanks!

Sure. What do you mean by display time?
I run an app called large-statusbar-clock which does as it says.
There are other clock apps. I've tried World Clock.

Hi,

I had the "status bar clock" version of this app installed and it didn't do what I wanted, so I uninstalled it and installed (and re-installed) the large Status Bar clock and I can't get that to run. What I want, instead of this:

1:59 PM

is this

13:59

Thanks for your help.

I have the large-status-bar-clock and it displays 24 hour time.
Right now it says 15:27.
Click on the time, then Configure.
Make sure you have "Display time in AM/PM mode" unchecked.
