Why bother using the E71 GPS when the n810 has an internal one? Is it a better GPS chipset?

Much better. The Nokia N810 internal GPS is unusable for me. The Nokia E71 GPS is about as good as my external Sirf-III: good enough for usage.

Do you have an n800 or an n810? I ask because, do you really need a qwerty phone if you have a qwerty tablet? Qwerty’s are great for emails, chatting and web browsing (typing urls) but your internet tablet will always be better than an e71 for that.

I have both the n82 / n810 and they complement each other beautifully. Its really cool if you’re traveling to be able to bluetooth the awesome photos you’ve just taken on your n82 to your n810 to back them up and check them out on a big screen.

That said, you’d be mad to get a phone that doesn’t work with your crazy American 3G networks. What about the samsung Innov8 or i7110? Sure they are not nokias, but they do run s60!

N82/N810 is definitely the best combination of device if you live in 2100 HSDPA land, great camera smallish device tethered with the mini laptop for heavier usage when needed. The innov8 would be great but it is not yet released here.

I also have an N810/N82 combo. Just got them in the last couple of weeks actually, and they work beautifully together.
Photos taken with the N82 (both day and night) rival in quality to any 5MP compact digital camera (except for the lack of optical zoom), and look great on a plasma screen with the tv-out.
3G works great (2100 HSDPA), and the GPS (probably using A-GPS from the carrier) locks in about 5 seconds and is more precise then the N810. I actually tether the N82 GPS (using ExtGPS) and use it in conjuction with Maemo Mapper and Navit.
Bonus is they both use the same USB cable. Oh and N-Gage games on the phone are a treat.

If you need american 3G, then how about N95? It doesn't have a xenon flash, but everything else should be about the same.

Ok I need some advice.
I have a N810 and I am getting a phone in the next 2 weeks.
Me and wife might get cingular.....

Am thinking with cinuglar I would need the $60 tether plan...all I need is Internet on my phone with 3G.

I am also scratching my brain on what phone to get....

Nokia N97
Nokia 5800 or a Nokia N96.

Which is faster? and is it fast enough for listening to streaming radio online...like Lastfm and XMOnline?

Thanks.

I have a N82 with a 8GB microSDHC. Gives me a cheap multimedia device.

Good:
- Camera incl VGA-Video (better than VHS-Quality) and good Flash. Quality good enough for all these people/family pics.
- Great GPS
- Nokia Maps (but stupid licencing model, will never buy additional features as the arey WAY too expensive for casual usage)
- HSDPA
- FM Radio
- Internet Radio
- UPnP AV support (Streaming music from NAS)
- Video out
- Browser
- Sports Tracker
- Good Sync with Outlook
-AD2P Bluetooth Stereo Audio

Bad:
- Cumbersome to unlock the keypad (-+) due to bad balance
- (No real keyboard, hate SMSing)
- UI not optimized for quick usage, interface sometimes cumbersome (e.g. speeddialing/contactbrowsing is WAY better solved on the Sony phones than on the Nokias)

Well first thing to note is Cingular is no more it is now ATT again. My fiancee and I pay $30 a month for unlimited messaging and then $15 additional for unlimited data, so for two lines we have unlimited messaging and data including tethering for $60.

The phone I would recommend if you want a free phone or cheap phone is the Nokia 6650.
If you want a multimedia phone get an N85 or N95 or hell even an N79, not the N96. It is very overpriced for what you get. Nokia 5800 is very nice the US 3G version comes out later this month but do you really need 2 touch screens? There are rumors that the N97 has been delayed, obviously thats the phone to get, it might even replace my N810 for many purposes!

Thanks for the advice.
i think touch screens are fun...it's one off the reason i love my N810.
I didn't know the 5800 wasn't a 3G.

i really really want the N97.

Well, thats the question...

Nokia RX-51 (new Nokia tablet) which comes with 3G + phone (what kind of?)
..or..
Nokia N97

What will be better, and why? At this point that is hard to say... it also very much depends on your required functionality.

For example, if the device has a reasonable storage it can replace my DAP. If it also has some good DAP functionalities. My N810 now eats normal SD cards, so I'm buying a 32 GB one and will try to use it as DAP replacement.
