It's possible, and has been discussed previously. So far as I know, no one is working on such a project though.

Most likely, if a Symbian port ever does happen, it will be after that OS becomes fully open source. However, by that point, the next Maemo device will be out, the N800 and N810 will be growing old, and therefore, interest in developing such a port is likely to be small and dwindling.

I won't use symbian on my n810 even if it becomes available someday. Maemo has a lot more features. Mer even more...

Symbian and Windows Mobile are completely different operating systems.

    So far:
Symbian cannot be run on tablets
Windows Mobile cannot be run on tablets

Yes, but there was discussion in that thread regarding porting Symbian to the tablets, touched off by igor himself.

At this point, I suspect Nokia's more interested in "testing the viability" of moving from Symbian to Maemo than the other way around. However, I do imagine at least one person within Nokia has put Symbian on a tablet at some point, if only because all the bits were sitting right there and it was Friday afternoon...

there's the 7710 (first touchscreen from nokia i think)... symbian s80 (s90??) just didnt work out...commercially

but now s60v5 has touch support, and as PIM is waaay better than maemo... plus theres more apps to it than maemo

(been using symbian since 2006 in most of my phones)
