Can someone answer Livestation's Web Services Developer here:

What he's asking is beyond my technical skills

There is no hardware accelerated OpenGL on the N8x0 tablets. You can hack the tablets to do software rendered OpenGL, but it is slow.

I'm not sure why OpenGL would be "critical" for video streaming. The WorldTV99 project can stream TV stations over the net to the tablet without any kind of OpenGL.

I guess the problem is that they used OpenGL in the desktop version because it was there and easy to use, and it would mean rewriting a lot of code to get it to work without OpenGL.

Thanks Ramkre & Quole - I thought this might be the case. We used OpenGL because we do some nice 3D effects on the video layer. While it would run with software rendering, as you mention it would probably be too slow. I updated my forum thread on this.

Hopefully Nokia's new devices will support OpenGL with acceleration and Nokia will use their newly acquired QT guys to make it easy to port our app to Nokia devices.

The new device will have hardware OpenGL-ES acceleration and support Qt.
