What settings are folks using for handbrake conversions? the wiki has a link to the handbrake site, but there isn't (any longer?) a preset for the nokias.

Will the iPhone preset work? Is there a better choice?

    What about Anamorphic?

    Thanks,

    -jamie

I use handbrake for a lot of things, but not this. I use mencoder -- there was a script I downloaded from this site quite a while ago (and have done a little improvement on). Googling over this site should turn it up.

If you want to stick with Handbrake, I've had good success (in general) with iPhone/iPod styled videos (I usually select that for podcasts).... I've never used handbrake to generate them, but have had good success with downloads.

i recall someone saying they use the iPod classic setting and change the bitrate to 350kbps. I've converted some this way and it appears to work well. haven't compared it to tablet.encode (I think it is in the Maemo garage) but that works, too.

I searched this site a while back and stumbled across the following (which works well for me):

    Video:
    Container AVI
    Codec MPEG-4 (XviD)
    Framerate Same as source
2-Pass encoding is unchecked (segfaults on me every time it is checked)
    Bitrate 600kbps

    Audio:
    Container AVI
    Codec MP3 (lame)
    bitrate 96
    Sample Rate 44.1
    Stereo

320x240 works well for 4:3 aspect
400x240 works well for 16:9 aspect

I've only done a few though... please post if you find better settings (I haven't tweaked it from what I found).

Edit: This is for an N800 running Diablo

Now I have an N900 I've messed with handbrake for AVC/264 and found that the N900 doesn't like the following:
B frames (the default doesn't work - set to zero)
8x8 DCT (not selected by default)
CABAC Entropy Encoding (selected by default - so deselect)

Otherwise it seems to eat up the handbrake settings.
