    I'll answer my own question...

Close all applications. Open the file manager (Utilities -> File Manager). You will see top level directories for "Nokia N810" (the Device memory), the "Internal memory card" and the "Removable memory card". Use the stylus to drag and drop the "map" subdirectory from the "Internal memory card" to the "Removable memory card". It will take a while, but when it is done you can open the "Map" application and it will find your maps properly.

Couldn't find away to store maps in the removable card. Maemo Mapper will let you configure map location.

Did you try using the File Manager per my suggestion above?

True the file manager can move the files but Map won't know where to find them so if the user saved multiple maps on the removable card they would need to manually move the desired map the internal card to use.

Please read my suggestion again. It definitely worked for me. All you have to do is use the File Manager to move the entire top-level "maps" directory from the internal memory to the removable card and the Map applicatoin will work properly. Try it and let us know if you find otherwise.

Tried it and correct you are. Unlike most aps the Map application discovers where it's data is stored rather than having a configuration parameter or a fixed location.

Worked for me also.... What's with only two map sets for the US. They could break that down a bit. 700+ mb is alot to chew. I hope this is an archive of smaller files for the device. I haven't looked at the architecture of it yet. First GPS for me.

This is kind of a bunk step to have to take for a linux machine. I should have a gui drop down or a text config file that could just point to the external card... any way.

Maemo Mapper allows for smaller maps and provides features that you have to pay a fee for with Maps.

So, now that I've successfully told it where to go...

It's telling me where to go. Like many others, I cannot get US_East 2008.1 to download.

I've tried 3 different routers, on 3 different uplink networks.

    Any one got any suggestions?
