Hi, I am a fresh newbie here. Just flash the N800. I have difficulties to visit maemo. it could not be loaded last night. The night before yesterday, I could visit maemo, but the speed is extremely slow, and it seemed to take forever to finish installation of a small package: USB Host(?), I mean the installation was canceled. I can visit other websites.
I tried Application Manager and I could see application lists, but I did not see any progress when I tried to install rootsh.
Is there some trick here to visit maemo?
by the way, when I visited ITT forum, I have to open it in google cached link. that is weird, is it?
one more thing: I thought XTerm is integrated in OS2008, but I did not find it. Please kindly correct me or tell me which package I should install, osso-???
thanks

will try this:
http://tabletschool.blogspot.com/200...-slow-and.html
1. Open a new browser window.

2. Click on the magnifying glass in the bottom right corner.

3. Un-tick the Fit Width To View option.

...and then close the browser.

Open a new browser window, try going to the sites that you had problems with and see if they are any better.

but should be able to install packages in Application manager, why not?

but still need other suggestions and help on xterm

You can also install packages directly through application manager - if you're having a problem with this too then I'd suspect your net connection - is your wifi signal any good?

XTerm is Terminal. I think that it's under Utilities in a clean installation.

I will change channel to see if I can get good WIFI connection.

I have not spend much time on N800 yet. I will check that terminal thing, but I do not remember there is terminal under Utilities. I hope I am wrong, otherwise I have to reflash it. without terminal, Linux is not linux.
