Do i need to reinstall canola?
Actually, lightmediascanner needs to be updated on the repositories. Gonna ask someone to bump it as soon as possible.

Do you know if this has happened yet? Or if there is an alternate location to get the updated lightmediascanner files?

    Howdy,
i am having issues as well with the latest version of canola installed from the application manager. i posted this information in a different thread but i was requested to move it here. following is the post from there. i installed from a new update to OS2008 and a clean machine.
    Here is the Quoted Information:
i have one problem, after using the suggestions here i still am unable to get anything but the included n810.avi file to play on canola. i think i have tried everything including blowing out the N800 and reloading (several times). canola plays music fine but nothing i convert and load to either the internal or external sd card will play. any thoughts on what maybe wrong. the version is installed from the application manager, both cards were formatted in the N800. i can see the title in the file list but when i go to play it just hangs; the time indicator at the bottom stalls at zero and the volumne bar drops by 2 . black screen and nothing. I just tested another thing, i copied the Nokia_N810.avi vid from the device to the internal SD card and it gives me the same error. black screen no video no time. can't canola play vid from the SD cards either internal or external? could there be a problem with the SD cards i am using? they are both Transcend SDHC 8 gig cards.

last thing suggested was to uninstall and run cleanup, then reinstall
i will be doing that next.
    thanks

And, oh, make sure you've installed mplayer, too! I forgot, but I think that isn't automatic, and you'll need it. In fact, cdr, install mplayer now before you uninstall.

You got some nice plain old mpegs on those cards? And you did an update of the media libraries after putting them in?

Beats me. Maybe you could look around here, or email them:

    http://openbossa.indt.org/canola/

Or maybe handful -- he was openbossa's link to the forum during development -- will see your posts and reply now that you're on a Canola forum.

    Good luck!

OK its working, I went out and purchased 2 2 gig PNY SD cards. i installed one in the internal slot, copied 2 short AVI's, an MP3 and a JPEG. all opened great with Canola. I guess i distroyed the 8 gig cards i had in there. next will be to install the second 2 gig card in the external slot and see if i can add the same types of file there and run it. keep you posted.
    thanks
    cdr

    Edit
I installed the external SD card, loaded a large avi (full movie) more jpegs and several mp3s. updated the library within Canola and everything played fine. anybody know of a way to recover or low level format the 8 gig cards? anyone here of this.
    thanks in advance

If you think the problem is the cards, try the Panasonic formatter -- it's in one of the first two posts in the first dual-boot link in my sig.

    Glad you got it working.
