I'm new to this arena so please hold the punches.
I've had the 770 for a while and recently got MPlayer installed. Still using the Nokia OS (2006), no access to root, etc. I can convert a small video clip, move it to the 770, and watch it there. That's easy enough.
Ideally I would like to watch movies stored on my PCs without any form of file copying. For one, there is very little space on the RS-MMC and for two, it will fit, at best, 1 or 2 movies even if I upgrade to a GB-size card.
What is the proper way to setup the 770 and/or the PC so I can watch the movies? They are in a variety of format at the moment, mostly Divx (AVI).
I mostly use MPlayer myself when I'm far away from my PC (on my way to the office or back home in the public transport). I currently use 1GB memory card, but I'm going to upgrade it to 2GB (such cards are relatively cheap now). Some people are more experienced in watching video streamed from PC and technically MPlayer supports it.Thoughts? Comments? Link to things I should read up on? The big sticky thread is beyond my comprehension after 2 pages. Any guides available for less technical people like me?
