I can no longer install or uninstall applications.

This is the content of the log file:

    osso-application-installer 4.22, UI version 1
    apt-worker exited
    write:Bad file descriptor

I even tried apt-get (Application Manger is not running) but get the error:
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (13 permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the list directory.

I think I did run apt-get as root.
    Code:
    $sudo gainroot
cal_read_block(r&d_mode): size zero, block not found?
Enable RD mode if you want to break your device.
    $

    OK, I fixed it.

Using this howto http://maemo.org/maemowiki/HowDoiBecomeRoot2 and clean up /etc/apt/source.list. I remove everything except for the ones that came with the device.

Now i can use apt-get and Application Manager.

I have the same problem, on the N800. Thing is, I can't install Dropbear because my Application Manager is broken! Any other way to become root without installing via the Application Manager? (I have xterm already.) Or any other way to fix this problem?
