I would love a program that as I drove, it showed me a moving map with all of the homes for sale nearby listed as POI's. As I click on them it would pop up the price, specs of the home, etc.

Currently, I go to realtor.com, enter a street address and click on "MAPS" mode to see a Flash based map with the houses listed on it but it sadly does not update as I move the map around. Only homes that are within a short distance from where I selected are shown even though you scroll the map a mile in any direction. Either way, it's painfully slow on the NIT.

Could these homes for sale somehow be downloaded as POI's and then sent to Maemo Mapper or some other GPS software on the NIT? Even then, where would I get the house lat/lon information as POI's?

Within Maemo Mapper, if you (while connected to the internet) search for an address, it should centre the map on that location. You can then add a POI manually.

Hi Nelson,

Thanks for the tip. Do you or anyone know if Maemo Mapper supports using a .csv file with Points of Interest in it? Maybe I could use "Ruby on the Rails" or something easier to take the house listings and convert them into a POI file?

That would be cool to already to have all homes for sale within a 10 mile radius. I could just go for a drive and see what was available and if I could even afford it.

Check out https://garage.maemo.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=2750

I installed that program this morning, haven't used it other than booting up the application. I was trying to find an application to set up a POI database on my laptop and then export to the tablet, this program looks like its made specifically for that.

I like how it can append POI's to a current .db file that Maemo Mapper uses for POI's. My goal is to use some type of application (like http://www.poieditor.com/ or an application for a Linux desktop) to create a good database without duplicates, and I can change the names to match up with custom icons making it easy to distiguish everything around me when driving.
