Hi all,

My first time post but been a long time reader. I've embarked on developing an applet for N810 but haven't been able to get it to display on the tablet. I'm using Python and Pluthon to develop and I believe I have both the host environment and the N810 updated with all libraries. I can even get my program to display when I use just gtk.Window(gtk.WINDOW_TOPLEVEL) and even using hildon, but when I rewrite the code to use Hildondesktop nothing shows up on the N810 and there are no errors displayed in PluThon's console. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

James

Forgot to mention, I am new to python development and programming under N810, gtk and anything linux related. I just had the sudden urge to build something for my N810.

That said I saw an article that says I need to create a desktop file for my hildondesktop applet. I do not know if this is the reason why the applet fails to load from my pluthon ide to my n810 but I will tinker with it. If you have any tutorials on how to create a desktop file please fill me in.

Thanks,

James

Most useful thread ever!: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...plugin+desktop

Make sure to read all the way to the end. If you still have any Q's, just ask and I'll try to answer them.

Edit: when you say applet do you mean Application or Hilden-Desktop plugin?

If it's just an application, look at the pymaemo example code.

I mean the Hilden-Desktop plugin. I've successfully created a test Application before.

You know I've read through that thread quickly a few weeks ago but didn't absorb everything that was said. I have now reread through it slowly this time and was able to pick up a few things, namely the source code they provided. Getting the examples to run on my desktop was a great smoke test and just made my day.

One thing to mention is that I didn't run these examples through PluThon but through direct copy of the files as described by that thread. It seems as though PluThon will need a PluThon Applet execution scheme which maybe in the works. At least now I have something to work with to continue development.

Many Thanks!
