I just upgraded to the latest version of Diablo (n800) and wondered if the default browser is optimum for speed or are there better options? The only reason I ask is because my brother was by with his I-phone and it seems to be about twice as fast on loading etc. I'm not wanting to start a debate about the I-phone just wanted to to see if I can speed my N800 up a bit. Thanks.

Tear is much faster. I think that these instructions are currently best way to install it.

You can disable certain features for all or almost all websites enabling them only for selective websites.

    or you can block ads

There are more tricks but don't expect magic.

Hey I've moved this one to the Maemo wiki at http://wiki.maemo.org/MicroB_tweaks because the old wiki will die some time sooner or later and this is worth saving. Please feel free to improve the page.

I think the unacknowledged nub of this thread is right there in the opening post: experiencing the iPhone turns the N8xx browser experience into a painfully slow slog. (I've got an iPod Touch myself, but same deal.) And it seems to me that the right answer is not command-line tweaks or experimenting with buggy alternative browsers (unless such hacking around is fun for you, in which case go for it). The sad truth for me is that the many happy hours I spent with my N800 are now only a memory. In honor of open source and Linux, I'll keep my eyes open for Maemo 5 and a new generation of faster devices from Nokia, but I've been spoiled and corrupted by the fantastic leap forward in user experience, speed, and rich app development I'm getting from the iPhone/iPod Touch platform.
