I'd also like to thank the developers for undertaking this project. My Nokia 770 has found another reason for existence. I actually have old tablet pc with Pentium 200 Mhz MMX and about 96 MB ram. Can X86 build be installed on such a tablet? Do you think Mer would be usable (only for using xournal and maybe light web browsing) in that machine?

Only one way to find out I'm not sure if 200mhz is to low,and you need a tad of swap, but maybe.

Very rough guide on how to do it (touchscreen may or may not work from start):

i guess no one has use xchat in mer to realise that it work until u get to the join channel part which puts it dead in its tracks.

i am typing this in midori under mer, so far so good except for the few times when it reloads the page when i try to type in a field or something.

maemopad which should probably be rename to merpad in this case, can not save files for some reason. i even try to save a file in my fat partition and still fails.

tried updating everything on my 770 Mer yesterday. Is there already a version of Midori available which allows text input? By the way that alternative theme is nice, with big enough icons. In general, is version .12 going to be upgradable without reuntarring to a MMC, using apt-get? I could not create map repositories for maemo mapper and mirage does not start, but in over all Mer looks really promising for 770 too. Thanks to everyone involved!

Mplayer plays videos somehow with Xorg (install Xomap and it's as fast as in Maemo), Xfmedia is good for music, and there are bunch of other mediaplayers / image viewer in Ubuntu repository.

    http://wiki.maemo.org/Mer/About

"Mer is a new Linux operating system, built upon a thin base of Ubuntu Jaunty combined with the best open-source elements of Nokia's Maemo platform."

Because Mer is based on Ubuntu, that repo is always enabled. (Not depending on your hardware)
