I ordered mine, too! And my wife's birthday will be tomorrow, perhaps I will have success in figuring she out that's her new toy... Hmmm, that one will be rather hard

    EDITED:
This post refers to a press release that was obviously wrong; the N800 is available through Nokia Online Shops for Europe now, too, and it's € 399 including taxes. I keep it here in small print because someone quotes it below.

Official price for France as of this morning is 399€ (the "euro tax" :-), which is only 40€ more than the 770 a year ago. Even less actually, because at the time shipping was extra, but now it's included. So not too bad...
A german language press release stated "€ 399 without taxes", which could mean up to €479 including tax depending on where you live/buy.

    I bought my 770 for € 249 (=USD 295 back then) in March 2006. - The package included a D-Link wireless router.

That's by far the best comment in this thread ... Tell us if it worked and, if it did, how you managed it. I see some very, very exciting possibilities on the horizon

I feel like I bought an expensive tool that nobody will be developing for anymore because the new OS is not backwards / API compatible, and (let's face it) -- nobody develops new toys for the old target.

Just to be clear, it's not that I think the 770 is useless. I love it, with some quirks. I just hate discovering that my machine is EOL two minutes after buying it. I feel like nokia just defecated on me. Even microsoft has trade-up programs when they are about to release new versions of software, where they give you a coupon to get Vista or whatever is the next thing to come out (yeah, I know that it's software vs. hardware, but it's just an example).
Don't worry idangazit, solid.gold.code will be sure to continue development for the 770 for as long as there is at least 1 770 left in existence. Mark my words.

    Let me predict the future:

January 2008 Nokia will announce new internet tablet, model N900. It will feature minor hardware upgrades, hw keyboard, 3d support, two cameras and OS2008. Software developed for N900 won't be fully compatible with previous models and OS2008 will not run in 770 or N800. Software developers will be pribed to new device by offering it to them at 1/4 of the normal retail price in order to ensure their intrest solely to new hardware version.

Good one, but even then there will be continued development for previous Internet Tablets, because some of us still think there's still some more tricks left in the 770 bag that have yet to be performed. And the N800 will no doubt be just as magical.

If you are right with your prognosis, the processor for N900 is already available: OMAP3430
