im a little confused , my software version is 5.2008.43-7 do i have the diablo update or what?

That's the latest diablo update. Diablo is basically the first OS for Maemo that allowed significant updates to the OS without requiring a reflash. Its predacessor, Chinook still required you to reflash your OS thus losing all your installed applications.

Not very likely by Nokia, but almost certainly by the community at some point (possibly some point soon).

sharing resources with the mer project im guessing?

tho i would guess its unable to fix that annoying niggle in the networking system that makes it unable to autoconnect to known wifi from offline/flight mode, as said system is closed source...

Well, if Nokia's got a fix waiting for deployment, we could certainly deploy it. If, however, it hasn't been fixed yet, then no.

i think its tagged as fixed in fremantle, but then only because they basically rewrote the whole system...

so no...
