Ok, I've been doing a tiny bit of tinkering with an idea, given that I've heard a number of people talking about their dead or dying screens lately. Assume I have a broken n810. I currently don't, but just pretend I do. If I were to pull it apart and take out the guts, remove the dead touch screen, and put the rest of the parts into another container, maybe some kind of housing that could hold the tablet parts, and then attach a 7" touch screen to the unit in place of the current 4", could I:

A: Make it work? And if so, B: what kind of 7" touch screen would work best? And finally C: What kind of connector would it need and where could I get this kind of screen at?

Again, it's just an exercise in curiosity.

If you could get one with right connect or make your own and find a driver for the screen that would work on tablet or write your own, plus calibration software for the screen. I think it would be possible then again you would have to look at power issues. If you could get a usb to vga adapter to work you could take a lillput touchscreen monitor for carputers and make it work. That is if the driver would work. I know there are linux drivers for it. Basically its possible but you would most likely have to code custom drivers and make your own connector or find a way to due usb to vga on tablet. I"m sure this isn't the answer your looking for but its the best one I have.

Nah, it's enough to feed my curiosity. In other words, it'd be an incredible amount of work, but it is possible.

I would say when it comes to electronics anything is possible with the right programming and engineering skills.

lol. Well, I can say I'm anything but a hardware geek, and the only real coding I do anymore these days is php web coding.

well if someone could get get a usb to vga adapter working it would be real easy then because some of the touchscreen monitors already have linux drivers.
