Ok, here's my little question. Whenever I want to use the GPS, especially with Maemo Mapper, I have to actually go into the control panel, turn it off, turn it back on, then open maemo mapper and it goes about doing a first time lock again. If I close it, or any other program that uses GPS, I have to go back into the control panel, turn off gps, turn it back on, and then use it again.

Is there something I need to do to keep the GPS from killing itself? I'm on the latest diablo, so the GPS is at least usable, but the whole kill and unkill thing is annoying.

Never happens to me. I do not have to turn it on and off, it automatically does that. Something seems very wrong with your tablet.

Well, I've got two tablets, and both do exactly the same thing, so I doubt it's my tablet.

From a GPS receiver standpoint I don't what the problem would be. Maybe you could provide a list of programs you have on both tablets and compare/contrast what programs others have on their tablets without the problem and see if there is some program that is causing a conflict.

I can't find the thread, but the simple way to fix it is in Maemo Mapper under Settings select the GPS tab and for GPS to use select bluetooth, leave the field blank, click OK. Then enable GPS in Mapper, just give it a minute and the GPS will start and stay on.

Hope this helps.

That's an odd trick, but I'll give it a try.

Since MM 2.6.x GPS doesn't work for me anymore. Worked fine with the earlier versions. In the setup I just see the BT GPS parts greyed out.

Wow, that's odd as hell, but it works. The GPS is now working when I open up maemo mapper without having to reset anything. Go figure that one out. o_0
