    Hi,
after installing Navit I've been trying a little it's routing funcionalities and it seems to work pretty fine, even if the maps for my area aren't so detailed.
But i can't hear any speech output, despite i've configured it in the navit.xml file:
    Code:
    <speech type="cmdline" data="flite -t '%s'"/>
isn't the n810 supposed to have flite installed? or maybe i have to install some libraries first?

    any help would be appreciated

i'm pretty sure the n810 does not come with flite pre-installed, but i'm (again) pretty sure it's available from the extras repository.

    Type in command line

flite -t "Test can you hear speech"

If it says the line it is installed if not you can get it in extras.

flite wasn't installed, as i gave it a try with
    Code:
    flite -t "something"
as casper27 suggested and got no sounds.

I then installed flite from the link above and seems to speak.

I'm going out to test it with navit. 'll let you know

    thanks

flite works fine, but it speaks english. actually, reads italian sentences
is there any way to let it pronounce italian sentences properly?
or maybe some configurations. or some alternatives, as well.

Maybe you can try Festival with Spanish voices. The Spanish pronunciation of Italian phrases should be closer than the English one.

Smart hint, alephito. but i had no luck with it.
App manager says it can't install festival. I'll try again after some googling

    thank you
