after i lost my first stylus, i took the backup stylus and drilled a small hole through the indentation at the end, tied the end of a piece of tough sowing thread to it and glued the other end of the thread with epoxy to the top half of the tablet, just above the erphone jack. i'm hanging on to my last stylus by a thread, to coin a phrase.
The fact that this is what we're reduced to doing is pathetic. I never had to consider these types of things with my old Palm devices or with my Nintendo DS/DS Lite or DSi.

Yes, but the DS is a bit more mainstream than our dear ITs. Making spare styluses for a handful of people (i.e. us poor sods) just isn't in Nokia's best interests.

I would disagree with that. The same could be said for making styluses for any number of niche and older Palm devices. There they are! Still being made for old units that nobody really uses anymore. Sure, they're expensive now.. but there they are!

Maybe this stylus shortage was planned to push us into the new finger-centric OS! Or even into the new N900: if you don't have a stylus to operate your N8x0, then you have to upgrade!
