Hi,

My N800 locks up hard and reboots itself randomly when I am browsing the web while at the same time listening to a radio stream. Sometimes I am able to load two or three pages before it happens but eventually it will go kaboom, I already had a dozen or more reboots just tonight. It is a brand new unit with freshly flashed latest 2007 OS upgrade and no other applications installed. My Nokia 770 worked flawlessly in the exactly same setup.

I would appreciate if you can run a few tests and post results here (including the OS version). Just start AccuRadio Hitkast and browse through several of the web sites in the bookmarks for 10 something minutes while the music is playing. Tableteer pages for one seems to guarantee the crash for me.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you konfoo. Unfortunately, it is progressing so I'm almost decided on returning the box after holidays. It seems somehow connected to playing any music and simultaneously accessing the net, I now had lockups with mp3 playing in the background while surfing the web...

Are you using virtual memory on your storage card? Try turning that off - the card may be defective. If it isn't... could be anything (bad RAM, ...).

Tried already removing the card, and no virtual memory has been set up. Still not hundred percent sure this is a hardware problem even if it looks like. One more strange thing: sometimes connection breaks but tablet does not hang and I can reconnect. But when restarting radio playback after that, the sound volume is reset to some random (usually low) level. That is, the volume slider position does not correspond at all to the actual playback volume. The moment I touch the slider with the stylus volume is adjusted back according to the slider position. Looks more like the audio driver bug to me.

Activate swap.
Increase your cache in Opera to max (Tools/Settings/Memory Cache: 4096).

StIl does it?

I am having the same problem. I listen to a stream from the home desktop and then try and browse the web. SHUTDOWN, immediately and reboots. I tried this many times with the same results every time. I icreased the cache. I used the 128mb card that came with it to increase the vm. I turned it off. Allto no avail. Anyone else care to try it for say 10-20 min..2...E]

Mine (on 2.2006.51-6) seems to be solid as a rock (touches wood).

I've been surfing the web (BBC News website) on WiFi (11g, WPA/TKIP, Linksys WRT54GS running Sveasoft Talisman 1.2RC3 firmware) while listening to streaming audio (AccuRadio HitKast - only testing, not my normal choice!) *AND* also transferring a 5Mb file over bluetooth from my phone to the N800. No problems at all.

My config: 128Mb virtual memory, 1024kB Opera memory cache. 1GB RS-MMC card in internal slot, 1GB SD card in external slot.

Try rebooting your device and check dmesg for any unusual errors or corruption which may give some clues, failing that return it as it definately isn't behaving the way it should.

It's so comforting not to feel alone anymore slconrad, could you please share a few details about your setup?

- N800 origin, e.g. Korea, Finland (look at the sticker under the battery), and where it was purchased?
- OS version, if it's upgraded, did you install 56-1 upgrade yourself or did it come with it?
- Brand, model and firmware version of your wireless router/AP, with what security options it is configured (WPA/WPA2, TKIP/AES)?

I even came to extremes of booting to my Windows XP partition today and trying Nokia upgrade wizard to reflash it again, but that did not help either. I am returning my N800 on Tuesday. Need to decide however, what's next. I'd love to have another try, but what are the chances the next one won't fail in the same way? Since music listening and web browsing is sort of the main intended use for the box, and I love to do it simultaneously, I'd rather go look elsewhere if N800 is inherently short in this department...

Tried it, no go. Locking and rebooting under heavy load all the time. It even rebooted a couple of times today while just browsing, with no streams playing.
