How old is your battery? I've had my tablet since summer of 2008. So I'm just coming up on a year of usage. To me that seems like a short number for a faulty batterym but who knows. Could have had a defect from the factory.

Ok. So its only a few months difference. My battery power was low so I'm on charger power now. So far its 30 minutes uptime on the charger. Before I plugged it in, I shut the tablet down first, removed the battery for about 15 seconds, replaced the battery and put it on the charger. Not sure if it helps, but I thought I'd give it a try.

I'll be at work for 45 more minutes, at which point I'll be removing the charger. I'll post if I get any more reboots.

I've had my N810 since Jan 2008, and it looks like replacing the battery has solved my problem. Since putting in the new battery two days ago, I haven't had one reboot on the charger, which was impossible with the old battery.

Not sure if this is related to what you're seeing Nelson, but it is worth looking at the battery anyway.

My battery suddenly stopped lasting for a whole day. After that moment, my battery status is sometimes low and if I reboot it I have 3 or 4 more hours available.

I think it is something broken in the battery logic. Not something that depends in the battery age.

I experienced that sometime last week. It was at about 50%, then randonly rebooted. After the reboot the battery level was at 90%. Thing is, the tablet didn't reboot any time after that, and I didn't have to charge the battery until a day and a half later I think.

When I use my tablet, I run the GPS and plug the tablet in for that. It isn't supposed to affect Lithium Ion batteries, but would plugging the battery in and out over time cause faulty battery logic?

Well, I read a lot of times that this kind of use does not affect the battery.

I do the same as you while driving. Additionally, I left the NIT charging all night, sometimes more than 12 hours.

Maybe the charger, at some point, damaged the battery. I do not know. It seems we are a minority.

For me, two things have caused the problem you describe.
1) E-Mail program (modest): automatic checks were causing the reboots
2) Corrupt partition on SD card: my cloned partitions are particularly susceptible to this. Things just start going wrong for no apparent reason. Even if I repair the partition (using fsck), the damage usually has been done, and things never work quite right again.

Are either of you using Modest or booting from SD?

I'm running Modest with the automatic checks turned on. No booting from SD though. Modest makes the most sense. I've never had problems with it before, and I've had it set to constantly check for emails since I got it. Is this a bug in modest that only happens occasionally?

I think it might also have something to do with SD card corruption... Modest usually stores its files on the SD card, and if that gets damaged, it gets ugly...
