I took many trips with my new GPS Kit, the program is very well done. If you use it as a Navigator only, just give it the time to clear 770's RAM and cache everyting and it works really well. Otherwise there is a lot of time to wait from a button press to the program reaction (more RAM, Nokia, why only 64 megs!!!). First load is ever really slow, though, especially when you don't have the GPS on sight and the device starts looking for it.
I liked almost everything of the navigation kit, the holder is sturdy and permits the right orientation on every windscreen, the vocals are very well done and exactly timed, sometimes perhaps you can need just a little more loudness but we cannot pretend too much from the integrated speaker.
I didn't try riding, but both driving and by feet options are well suited and works flawlessly. My Navi took me from one side of the other of London without any kind of problem... while not in the Tube
The same while driving, the options of changing colours to suit the current ambiental light is very nice, the 'energy saving' options is a must have. While on the highroad the 770 blanks off, and it means not to have a totally unuseless green arrow in front of your eyes for 150 Kms. 2 Kms before the next driving direction it resumes and starts driving you again.
Display is very well organized and almost everything needed is available (speed, directions from where and to where, 2D or 3D map, sats, next and 2nd next turn to take)
You have to have some patience after a flight for example because the GPS module has to reposition itself, but it's absolutely normal. In London, when coming up from the Tube, it was just a matter to take out the cover and wait 2 seconds to have myself repositioned and tracked again (heh, Orwell is every day near to us...)
One thing to point out, it is totally usable with your fingers only. For this reason, the upgrade to the last OS version is requested by the kit. I upgraded for this reason and realized WHY it is needed. The difference in the usability of the thumb keyboard is ASTONISHING, now IT ROCKS.
Sometime the difference between the Navicore UI and the normal MAEMO UI pops up and it's ugly, but I consider it a minor defect.
Last thought to maps. It is not well clear how license about maps are, i.e. what about upgrades, new countries etc. I wrote a mail to Navicore and had no reply, but at that time I was not already an owner of the kit, perhaps next time I'll try asking something I'll be more lucky.
The GPS module works perfectly when in your pocket, so it means really a portable device!
Overall a very good package, very satisfied with it.
