Just wondering who here does writing either as a hobby, or a profession. I do it for a living and a hobby. One of the hobby elements of writing I do besides FOSS stuff is sci-fi. I love doing it and just recently posted an experimental piece online (part of an experimental series called "The bitter cycles of man") called "The Oort Perimeter". It's free to download and read if you like. I also run Raiden's Realm. (details in sig)

So what kind of writing do you guys do?

Blogging, science fiction and songwriting. Mostly the latter these days.

    I live to write!

    I post in forums.

And write small comedic monologues when the need arises.

My work involves research and writing for a Q&A blog (quezi.com) and a paid research/Q&A site (uclue.com). No sci-fi though.

I'm really a software developer rather than a writer, but I'm not doing much of that at the moment. I may well get back to that if the RX-71 has a 4.13" or larger screen (seeing it sounds like the RX-51 won't).

    Regards,
    Roger

The RX-51 was the n900 which turned out to be a maemo phone. The RX-71 is now looking like the likely candidate for the next tablet.

I've done a lot of writing and have been published in a number of trade magazines and newspapers. Am 41,000 words into my first book. My Maemo Mapper HowTo is on my site. I do copywriting for many of the sites I build. There is of course blogging and my political activist activities.

I've contributed to some computer science textbooks, a river guide book from AMC as well as published many articles in Wood Carving Magazine (http://www.woodcarving.com).

I've also published "Carving for Kids", a book for adults teaching woodcarving to kids. It's organized by age groups and there are plenty of projects. You can find it at Amazon or any major book chain.

Due out late this year is the follow up "More Carving for Kids" which contains, you guessed it, more projects.

I've written a lot of fiction and poetry, but not had any of it published.
