mCalendar 4.5 seemed to use the native maemo alarm system, which was better than all the alternatives. I wanted to use it, but found the calendar views unusable.

mCalendar 5.9 integrates grid views to make it more usable, but no longer supports alarms? Sheesh.

Thanks!
I just tried it out. Yes, you can install just the .deb. You should only need to install the armel .deb. The i386 .deb is for a computer hardware install.

*Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Looked through the thread and couldn't find any sort of solution... I updated mCalendar to the 5.9 version in Extra-Devel. Got it to load and sync, but when I view the calendar, all items are repeating on the following day at the same time. Anyone else encounter this?

@AndyM

Silly question...Have you selected (check box) your GCal in the mCalendar Preferences? Then Sync.

IIRC from when I installed / deleted db / re-Synced... the first sync only retrieves the GCal list. Subsequent Syncs(after selecting the Cal) pull in your Cal entries.

@All

What is the difference between selecting the GCal, Marking it Default, or Checking both?

Thanks
Thanks a lot Snoshrk, that fixed my issue also as I had the same problem as AndyM.

It's probably a UI issue though as it's not particularly obvious that a user has to take these steps to get sync to work.

IMO mCalendar 0.5.9 is not yet ready to use: it does not correctly sync with Google Calendar (repeating events, etc.).
Any other opinion? Anybody out here using it?

I found that I really like, and prefer, Seqretary.

i've been using seqretary myself. it seems to have been abandoned by trollo, its developer. i'm wondering if it's being backed up when i make a back up?

it has no conf file in /etc/osso-backup/applications so i find it unlikely...

as for abandoned, not sure. Yes there has been little news, but then so is the same for mcalendar and "friends" as well...

i suspect that most devs are checking out how hard it will be for them to port their work to maemo 5, and leaving the maemo 4 version on the back burner...

This seems to have happened with a lot of applications I find and use.
I guess the downside of free and open-sourced is that applications often fade away - some 'done' and some when being developed but still in use by a lot of people.

I wish there were more stable, commercial options available to supplement the many great freeware that is out there.
I'd pay for a stable and built-out Seqretary for instance.
