I have an entry in my applications manager for 'Xulrunner' v 1.9.2a1

I don't remember where it came from and it's big (27MB).

I'm suspecting it came with Fennec - that I deleted after trying it out.

Is there anyway, in general, to tell what applications may rely on something like this?

I'd love to have those 27MBs back

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XULRunner

If you're not running any Mozilla-based apps (e.g., Fennec), you can uninstall XULRunner with no consequences.

Thanks, removed it. Added it to my reasons for disliking Fennec.

For future reference: usually if a package is still needed you cannot uninstall it

Don't forget that Fennec is still Beta... When it's RC, all dependencies should be either packaged with the app, or invisible to the end-user. (And, the install size should be much smaller.)

another option is to highlight it, hit the i icon and look at the right-most tab, as it will list any reasons for refusing to remove a package...
