sorry for the n00b question.

I just got a n810 from ebay to replace my lost ipod touch. thinking (by the specs) this was superior.

I have hit a wall at 2100 mph. I *need* to sync my outlook calendar with this. Without that feature, this is just a hunk of worthless metal.

I have read that this is not supported. (after I purchased it).

Now, I'm asking. With all the code hackers out there, there has got to be SOMEONE who has figured out a way.

I'm willing to brick the darn thing, so any experimental code would be welcome.

I am wondering if loading up android on the thing will help?

Any (real) advise other than it sucks to be me, and I just lost $200?

Seriously?

Thanks!

Can't you just use OWA?

And if that for some reason doesn't work how about Outlook Live?

And on a side-note: If Outlook sync is that crucial to you it might have made sense to spend five minutes checking out how well the device syncs to before buying.

Seriously?

OWA is not helpful. I have dozens of appointments a day, and I need reminders to alert me. My company uses Outlook/exchange as our standard.
OWA won't help, because I am often not anywhere there is wifi. I need something to work offline.

I didn't find the limitation before buying, because to make a product today that has this stupid limitation, is, well just stupid. Even cell phones now aday can sync with outlook through a data cable. I had just assumed a company like Nokia would not kill a product like this.

Android is not ready for primetime on the NITs.

I agree with silvermountain. It should never be assumed that proprietary software will be compatible with *anything*. For something that important to your life, a little googling wouldn't have hurt.

Blame M$, not Nokia, nor the community.

You should be able to:

a) Setup your Outlook calendar to sync to Google calendar,

b) Install mCalendar or one of the other NIT calendars that supports Google calendar syncing

c) Sync your NIT calendar to Google Calendar.

Shouldn't take more than 20-30 mins to setup and once it's setup its just a matter of doing a sync when you have wifi connection.

OMG, why make it so difficult? GVM comes to rescue. Look it up, gvm, palm VM and choose M$ outlook as the conduit.

Agree wholeheartedly. Android is a platform that is trying to be shoehorned into a variety of places at the moment and as any Windows person will tell you, an OS on many different hardware configurations usually leads to some breakages.

Because a lot of us are cross-platform and having a common (and relatively migrateable cloud app in gcal) is advantageous (see http://www.linuxuk.org/node/6) for more of my experiments.
