Hello and thanks for all the knowledge you share on this forum.
Is there a way to reinstall the native media player on the N810 short of reflashing?
My media player is behaving very strangely. If I play a local movie, the sound is fine but the video is all jumbled up, a bunch of animated color blobs. Here is the weird part: if I click on the menu and open it, the video goes to perfectly normal only while the menu is open and immediately returns to messed up as soon as I close the menu. It is definitely some problem with the media player itself given that Canola plays the same videos beautifully with no problem.
When suggesting solutions, you may like to know that I do know how to gain root and install repositories.
Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi Hzeric.
I did a reflash and the problem completely disappeared. I am really surprised that the same didn't work for you. The only thing I can think of is that if you backed up your data and restored them after reflashing, you probably chose to restore the 'settings' as well. My experience has been that when I want a real clean restoration, I uncheck the 'settings' option when I restore my data after a reflash. Restoring contacts and bookmarks should never be problematic. I also recommend restoring your previous applications one by one and testing media player performance after each installation before installing the next one.
I hope that helps.
Cheers

You could always try mPlayer for videos.

IMHO it plays them a lot more reliably than the default player.

Thanks to both of you for your time, energy & advise.

In the meantime, Darveesh after reading your first (original) input, I installed canola2 (because you mentioned that you did not see the problem with that program while playing a video).
I still have the same problem, also with canola2.

Maybe I did not do a "flash"; maybe I just did a reset to default settings.
I want to get this fixed because it ruins my day ..
I need to lookup how to flash now ...

Will send an update later and let you know how this goes
thanks again,
eric

Hi Hzeric.
1. Go to: https://www.nokiausa.com/get-support...oftware-update
2. Download Nokia Internet Tablet Software Update Wizard
3. Install, run, and follow instructions

Make sure you do a backup before you reflash otherwise you will lose EVERYTHING.
Good luck!

I started experiencing this problem as well yesterday, and while reflashing the device may solve the problem, Its is not the proper solution, as what caused the problem in the first place may happen again.
