Hello,
I bought recently nokia 770 from http://nokia.de. I saw little pink ( and in some other colors) dots. Is that normal ?? I was in the nearest Nokia Shop and they said me that this is normal and the nokia is not defect ?!

For example:

The background of the page muse be white :
http://www.bbc.co.uk/?ok

It looks not so good...

Idea ?

(Warning: Considerable guesswork following.)
I haven't used a 770, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that one of the differences between the 770 and the N800 is that the N800 has a 24-bit color display, and presumably that means that the 770 has a 16-bit display? That page looks like some pages might be rendered when there is color dithering going on. Someone with a 770 should be able to verify this ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/ )
I don't have a non-24-bit display available at the moment.

Hi kolevichin

Yes, I'd say this is normal and not a defect.

What you are seeing is an interference pattern seemingly caused by the touchscreen overlay on the 770 LCD screen. It results in a "sparkle" effect and whites are tinged with pink.

The N800 no longer has this overlay in which case whites are white without any sparkling effect.

The 770 and N800 both have 16-bit displays.

Thanks for the correction. Unfortunately I can't find the url to where I got that [24-bit incorrect info] from, having read far too many pages today to catch up on a week's backlog.
