I wanted to know if the version of pidgin on maemo will include the new feature video conferencing for XMPP / Gtalk or if the feature is already covered by Freemantle.

There's no Pidgin for Fremantle yet. The Collabora guys are porting the Pidgin functionality to the built-in communications, but I still think someone should port Pidgin to Fremantle.
