So, wait another day? I can do that.
There is a business decision to that methinks, Nokia must have a lot of negotiations/deals in place for N97 subsidies etc and to focus on their true killer device would have probably been a bad move in these negotiations.
There was a conscious effort to highlight the 'improvements' of s60 in the fire of all the recent criticism and seemingly to minimize the real significance of the n900 as well as the massive improvement in 'mainstream' usability from maemo 4 to maemo 5.

Well, here's hoping that they simply left it for tomorrow as it was deemed TOO attention grabbing to let it be presented on the same day as N97 mini/X6/X3

Now, this would be huge. Especially if they brought it to market with Ovi services working they way they've been advertising them to.

Me thinks I know what the "oh my" from Eldar was about now

What would the content be, though?
3D OS?
Does it even retain the original resolution...

What if the content was a mashup of what you see in the world around you, and a layer above that as a command-menu?

That's the only thing I could think of right now that fits Nokia's thinking lately, and how doing such a thing would be quite innovative.

Plus, Ovi Maps has had a 3D mode for sometime now. A nearly 3D OS makes a lot of sense.

@ARJWright: It doesn't have a digital compass to do that properly.

Yes, there are tons of new use cases with augmented reality.

I don't know much about how the 3d tech in that works, but wouldn't you think that the n810 wouldn't exactly be prime candidate for re-release, especially now that the CPU is taxed even more with the added work of having to render two screens simultaneously?

The n810 stutters just trying to play some XviD movies at half res, imagine the stuttering of having to do that twice per each frame. I don't think this has anything to do with the "wow" that we should see soon (hopefully)

Although, I must admit, that if they announce a n900 with 3d screen tech tomorrow, I would most likely want to see it in person even more than I want to see the plain 'ol n900 right now.

nice video about N95 and Augmented Reality Tower game. Wonder how long after the release of N900 we get games like this (or better).
