Hey I've been looking for such an app even when I was using Symbian:

a megaphone + autotune (on choice) that projects input (via the microphone) to the phone speakers or an audio system when connected, REAL TIME.

I've been requesting on many Symbian forums but sadly, to no avail. Wonder if the maemo community is able to come up with a fantastic app like that!

Looking forward to responses, and thanks!

It's all about taste. And MPlayer, while I used to be a fan with it on my Mac very early on, VLC has replaced it in my usage.
I have only very bad experiences with desktop VLC, pausing has noticiable delay, subtitle rendering is horrible, bad ***/SSA subtitle support, noticiable quality decrease on playback, full screen corruption mess when skipping frames.

But hey, I don't know about the MPlayer on maemo, since I haven't tried it. MPlayer can play the exact same formats as VLC, but for IT's there's always need to for example, reduce resolution and/or choose format that's less hard for the CPU, like XVID instead of h.264 because of the limited CPU speed. Desktop's don't suffer this problem.

The app that I really would like to see is the one tracking in real time Buss, metro, and trains on a map such as maemo mapper or ovi mapper. So that I would know exactly weither I missed the buss or that it is just in late.
I heard that iphone has one that tracks buss in the US. so I think it's gonna be possible to make it working under maemo 5.

I would like to see some widgets for homescreen that allows one to turn on/off something fast.

    - 3G widget with on/off feature: allows user to switch from dual-mode to single and so (GSM only or with 3G network)
    - Bluetooth on/off
    - GPS signal on/off: on S60 to turn this on I have to start an application that requires GPS first.
    - Google translate.
    - Flashlight/Torch: one button to turn on/off or perhaps one more for SOS.

and Finnish readers with experience with widgets please consider making a Journey planner widget for TKL and YTV.

I don't think that's possible without having the public transport installing GPS devices in their vehicles and sharing the data with the rest of the world. And I don't see this happening anytime soon.

    • Ability to use device as a WiFi Modem. (e.g. MiFi)
The way I understood it was that you can have a widget that provides you live updates as they happen for things such as face book, twitter. You can view this directly from your home screen without necessarily having to open up the app / web page

I hope to use it as a WiFi modem too, hopefully something like Joikuspot will be available like they had on S60

I think Ride-on buss do have gps device installed, that's the transportation buss I'm using here in maryland, i don't know for the rest of the world. but i think all the buss in the US have it.

I was thinking about using the APRS option of Maemo Mapper, since I don't even know where to as for help I lef the idea.
