I've been reading with some interest information about the N800. I'm interested in getting one, but was wondering if anyone knows if you can use Slingbox or LocationFree to view TV on this device?

At present, you cannot. You can use ORB to stream some forms of video from your home media box to your n800 on the road. I would love it if Sling released a client for the N800. They have been very long on promises and short on results in the past, though. They advertised a MAC client on the box/in their literature for a long time before even a beta version was ever released.
