Hi all

Just got my N800 and besides the, 5-way button feel issue I'm worried about my home button...

I have not seen another N800, so I don't know if they are like this or within normal. My escape/home buttons do move slightly by a 1mm, when using the 5-way pad. And the bottom right hand corner of the home button is slightly sunk, not flush. To demonstrate please see this short video and post back. You may need to watch closely, I know I am fussy, but I rather be happy it is okay.

thanks
Rich

The same here, except your problem with your bottom right hand corner of the home button. BTW, my N800 is made in Finland.

All the buttons are mounted on a shared piece of rubber, that's why they move together. The rubber membrane is held in place by two small plastic pins (?) which are thinner than the holes on the rubber, hence the excess sliding of the buttons. Have a look at Thoughtfix's photos/videos on how the N800 looks inside.

First of all...
NEVER TAKE IT APART
Second
If you ignore the last piece of advice, you will find that the front aluminum plate comes off with very little effort and the buttons go with it. If I had that problem, I'd pop the aluminum plate, re-seat the buttons, and put the plate back on very carefully. Of course, I'd do that with the power off and the battery removed. But I don't suggest YOU do the same.

But yeah... what YOU should do is go through proper support channels.

Thanks. I'll get in touch with Nokia and see what they say.

Cheers
