I have re-flashed my N800 with OS2008 (Diablo) several times it still remembers things from previous installs. The most annoying thing is a 5:50am "flip clock" alarm I had once set. Even after several re-flashes the device still turns itself on every morning at 5:50am. The only way to stop it from turning on at 5:50am is to remove the battery. After re-flashing I did not re-install flip clock nor did I restore any backup. I am also using a "new" 8GB Internal SD card. I also tried installing OS2007 and then OS2008 thinking it world wipe things out a little better, but no luck. There has to be something in the 256MB internal storage memory that is remaining after a re-flash.

Is there a way to "wipe" the N800's internal storage memory? I would like to try writing all zeros to the 256MB internal storage memory and then install OS2008. I have seen strange things and remnants remaining on OS re-installs with servers and workstations where the hard drives were just reformatted and not wiped (filled with zeros). The solution was to wipe the drive with all zeros and reinstall OS.

That's a surprise to me.

For an incomplete solution, you could get a clean image of an OS on an SD card, set up dual-booting, and use and default to the SD card for booting from now on.

I'll be interested to see anyone else's solution that includes really cleaning out the built-in memory.
