Hi,
I am an extreame newbie!!!! Sat. was the first time I have done anything on Linux. I have a n800 and am trying to compile and create a deb package for it. I did eventually get it to compile using gcc. But now I am stuck. When it compiled, it saved the file with no extention. I am not sure how to create a deb package with this app.
My config is the UBUNTU Maemo Development VMware appliance.(because I had issues installing xephyr on Debian)

Any assistance would be greatly appreciate. And please take it easy on me since this is only my 4th or so day with linux period!

Thanks

Mike

unix executables don't rely on extensions. ergo, "myapp" is a valid name.

check through the tutorials on mameo.org -- they discuss the need to create a proper debian-ized source folder structure, the control files, and point to small apps you can use as reference.

good luck, and welcome.

here's a list of docs:
http://maemo.org/platform/docs/how-to.html

800-sepcific deploy:
http://maemo.org/platform/docs/howto...tml#deployment

Assuming your application is compiling and running under scratchbox, then this should be all you need to do. (I'm speaking from 770 experience, but pretty sure nothing in that realm has changed on the 800)

Would like to thank everyone for posting. I was able to figure it out. It seems that I was compiling wrong. Got it working nicely now, but now I need to create a GUI application... Any assistance I can get with this. I have gone through the tutorials on maemo.org, but maybe some one can shed some more light on the process.
